Bloom
I was tasked to create a dead man's switch using a button and lights. My rendition of a dead man's switch is this blooming flower. Where a dead man’s switch is used to passively communicate that a body is still present or active, a beacon shows presence in a different way, announcing danger, calling for help, or just shouting into the void.

The lights on my lamp only turn on when it is pressed. I coded the mechanism using Arduino IDE and used an Adafruit Feather 32u4 and fairy lights. I sewed the flower with fabric and shaped it with a wire, and designed and laser cut the vase.
